2017 Indigenous Drug and Alcohol Misuse Conference

Event Details

  • The Conference has been formulated to highlight the positive actions and programs being delivered to Indigenous communities, both nationally and internationally, based on the holistic model of care. It is our belief that the whole-of-person approach to health and community services works best for individual Indigenous clients and their families. Hence, The 2017 International Indigenous Drug and Alcohol Misuse Conference scheduled to be held at Mercure Hotel in Brisbane on the 21st – 23rd of August 2017 will highlight successful programs and is targeted to specific sectors, the first is grassroots workers and providers in the field of D&A substance misuse together with government departments and organisations that have a specific interest in a holistic approach to Indigenous health and believe in closing the gap programs.
This conference will provide a voice for the whole of the community to spotlight the achievements of community and AOD workers from throughout Australia and focus on the sharing of information regarding the harmful effects that alcohol and other drug misuse has delivered to our communities from a local, state, national and in some cases international perspective. The event will spotlight the positives and courageous fight against alcohol and other substance misuse. Moreover, with the dedication of workers, communities and agencies the way forward is strong partnerships and collaboration and developing a united stand against the impact of alcohol and other substances.
