    Hey all,

I am working and studying at UTas and we are embarking on a project to add to the existing cultural garden.

We are joining with an ATSI class at the Polytechnic to create a locally inspired bush tucker garden to engage the wider community and to promote cultural practices as well as the benefits of healthy food choices and physical education.

Does anyone have any experience with this or know of any resources which would be beneficial to us?

    Hi Jan,
An article by S Walton and C Weir has been recently published. It is titled The interplay between diet and emerging allergy: what can we learn from Indigenous Australians? You can access it here http://www.healthinfonet.ecu.edu.au/health-risks/nutrition/publications/specific-topics/nutrition-related-health-problems in the publication section under specific topics - nutrition related health problems.
Hopefully it will answer some of your questions.

    Regards,
    Kathy

Exercise nutrition and dietary nutrition. I think we should steer away from telling Aboriginals and Torres Strait islanders what a normal diet is, and start helping them lose weight by giving them diet options in conjunction with exercise. What do ya think?
